Plastic Free July has arrived and we’re here to share our top tips to help you reduce your use of single-use plastic.
Plastic Free July is an annual campaign, originally set up in Australia by the Plastic Free Foundation. So far, Plastic Free July has helped millions of people across the globe reduce their use of single-use plastic and in-turn be on the right side of history! This year, we’re calling on you to join in too!
But, where to begin? Luckily, we’ve formulated all our very best tips and ideas in one place to get you started:
- Invest in reusable food containers and beeswax wrap as an alternative to clingfilm and plastic food bags
- Plan a plastic-free picnic or coffee morning!
- Complete a bin audit – Take a note of everything you throw away, can it be reused or recycled?
- Buy produce such as fruit and veg loose. Better yet, visit one of Surrey’s zero waste shops!
- Visit a repair café instead of buying new
Reducing your use of plastic is great, but you don’t need to stop there! Reducing your overall waste, including food and clothing, is a great way to help the planet and make Surrey a greener place to live. Earn rewards for reducing your waste by signing up to Rethink Waste today!
