Join Surrey’s movement to Rethink Waste

We’re all aware that we need to help future generations enjoy the planet as much as we have by looking after it. But it can be hard to know how. The truth is that taking a few small steps yourself can make a big change. And that’s why we’re asking you to join Surrey’s waste reduction movement, Rethink Waste.

From grandparents in Guildford to families in Farnham and communities in Cobham, nearly 10,000 households in Surrey are already taking part. They receive weekly emails with fun, easy activities to help learn the latest waste reduction tips and techniques. Surrey households have completed over 100,000 activities in the last year alone!

And that’s not all. For every activity that you take, you win points. Using your online dashboard, you can use points to:

  • Enter prize draws to win fantastic prizes like electronics and vouchers.
  • Donate money to national charities.
  • Help Surrey primary schools win funds to improve their local environment.

Since the scheme launched, Surrey residents have entered over 20,000 prize draws and have made over 10,000 donations to charities and schools. So far, Surrey schools have received £24,000 to build vertical gardens, install solar panels and develop wildlife areas, among many other projects.

The consequences of not doing our bit to protect the environment and tackle climate change could be devastating. Reducing what we waste means we lessen our reliance on natural resources and create fewer carbon emissions. Join Surrey’s movement to Rethink Waste now and take a small step towards big change.
