Give a Surrey school (and the planet) a helping hand

You can help a school in your local area in Surrey win part of a £6,000 prize fund by taking part in our Rethink Waste scheme. All you have to do is register and donate points that you gain by completing fun, online activities to a school of your choice. The schools that have the most points by 14 June 2024 will win money to run a project that benefits their local environment.

Over 30 primary schools in Surrey are taking part. They’ve all submitted a project they’d like to run on their school grounds to help improve the environment for their pupils. Find your nearest school and donate your points to them and you’ll be giving something back to your local community and for future generations.

Earlier in the year, five Surrey primary schools won cash as part of Rethink Waste. Among various projects, they’ve pledged to use the money to construct a vertical garden, install solar panels, enhance a playground to help wildlife and develop a rainwater garden.

Over 7,000 households in Surrey are already taking part in Rethink Waste and so far, they’ve completed over 65,000 activities, entered nearly 16,000 prize draws, made over 600 donations to charity and have donated over 4,000 times to Surrey schools.

They’ve been finding out how to create gardens that reduce waste, how to cut down on food waste and keep everything that can be recycled out of the rubbish bin; they’ve also been learning that the best thing to do with waste, ahead of reusing or recycling it, is to reduce it.
